2012 Life and Planet Spring School

30th March, 2012 the one-week Life and Planet Spring School finished successfully! The school began with a 3-day advanced field skills workshop to the Jurassic coast of Dorset, followed by 4 days of lectures and practical work at the NOC in Southampton, including a sampling trip by boat. During the course, 20 UK - based academics gave of their time to guide fieldwork, give lectures and participate in evening discussions. There are some photos illustrating the Spring School and some of presentations are available to view or to download.
Field course in Dorset!!

Under glorious, blazing March sunshine, we enjoyed three days exploring the geological delights of Dorset's Jurassic Coast under the watchful eyes of Stuart (Robinson), Dave (Kemp) and Graham (Shields-Zhou)!
Lectures and Seminars in Southampton!


After the field course, we joined the NERC ES4 Spring School at National Oceanography Centre in Southampton. For the whole school, we had in total 20 UK-based academics gave of their time to guide fieldwork, give lectures and participate in evening discussions.
Except for the lectures and seminars, all of our participants have brought posters to illustrate their own research!
Boat trip!!

During the school, we had an introductory trip on the NOC research ship RV Callista!
Happy hours in the evening!!

In the evening, all of our participants and available lecturers have come together for active discussions and friendly conversations!
