_     After completing a BA in Geology in the University of Dublin, Trinity College, I began a PhD at the University of Cambridge, under supervision of Nick Butterfield (Cambridge) and Phil Wilby (BGS). I am studying the assemblage of Ediacaran macrofossils of Charnwood Forest, Leicestershire, which includes many previously undescribed taxa. Primarily, I will be investigating their biology, taxonomic affinity and ecology, this last aided by analysis of the depositional environment in which they lived. These organisms are enigmatic; understanding their taxonomic affinity will provide insight into the evolution of life on the planet. I will also be undertaking comparative studies of similar biotas in Newfoundland.
