Events and News
As a new NERC research programme, “Co-evolution of Life and the Planet” intend to publicise Earth’s history from its origin to the present, with topics ranging from the Origin of Life itself, the Snowball Earth glaciations, the evolution of the eukaryotic cell, the emergence of the first animals and plants as well as later diversifications, crises and extinctions during the Phanerozoic Era. To bring together scientists from different fields within Earth System Science and to publicise the research results of the four projects inside of the programme, there are 4 annual science meeting during 2011-2014. The first one was held jointly by The Geological Society and Life and Planet programme (see below). For educational purpose, “Life and Planet” is also organising three Summer/Spring Schools to help bring its PhD students, PDRAs and related young researchers abreast of the latest research development. We will also be funding international travelling speakers to the UK.
